Potty Training: Day 1

So, with Maya going back to school today, I thought it would be a good day to introduce Mitchell to the world of potty training.  I had no idea how the day would turn out, but I honestly assumed it would be a failed attempt and we would try again next month.  It was somewhat successful, but I'm still questioning how to continue. 

 

The day started off with drinking lots and lots of milk and sitting on his own potty.  We are starting out with the sit down style and so it's been lots of fun teaching him to "tuck" in his penis.  The highlight of the day was me helping him tuck and him saying, "Where my penis go, Mommy?"

 There was a lot of whining, crying, refusing and saying "no."

 I couldn't get enough of his cute little tush in real undies!  We went through about 8 pairs today.

All in all it was a good day for introducing the potty.  He didn't have many accidents, but I had to remind him to sit on the potty every 30 minutes.  He never decided to just go himself.  I'm not sure how to get him independent in that respect.  With him starting a new school on Tuesday, I don't think it is fair to just go into undies without giving him an adjustment period.  We will probably continue a combination of undies/pull-ups/diapers for a few weeks.  Maybe try to quit the pull-ups my next 5 day weekend, which is coming up pretty soon!
