Family Photos

In October we had family pictures taken at Mitchell Memorial Forest.  We found a great photographer who gave us a CD of all the photos for us to print ourselves.  I finally got around to printing some of them and making my version of this

I started out by picking my 6 favorite black and white pictures and ordering them in 12x12's.  Then I went to Home Depot and picked out a piece of plywood and had it cut down to 1'x6'.

On Tuesday, Maya helped me paint the plywood black.

Once the black paint dried, I just used spray adhesive to attach the pictures.  I was going to use mod podge over the top, but I don't think it's necessary.

I hung it today on a wall just outside the office/playroom which can also be seen by the front door.  I think it is just what the wall needed.  Here are a couple views of it.  It's hard to get a great picture of it because it is so long and there's not much room between the wall and the steps, making it difficult to get the whole thing in view.

I'm rarely happy with the way my own things turn out.  This turned out exactly the way I pictured it in my head.  I can't stop walking by that wall just to check it out.  I'm in love!

In other news, I have to share how proud I am of Mitchell.  He did so awesome in swim lessons last night that the teacher kept having us get in view of the lifeguards so she could "show off."  She also complimented his language development saying "Wow, he has really good language for only 2 and a half."  That was a very proud mommy/speech therapist moment.  I'm also proud of him for learning letters.  He loves these foam letters that stick in the shower and even goes in there to play when it's not shower time.  I'm pretty sure he knows every letter.  It's so cool to listen to him pick the letter up and name it.
