Potty Training and Cartwheels

Day 2 of potty training went much better than I expected.  I was totally prepared for him to start refusing the potty because the excitement from Day 1 was gone.  I did have a trick up my sleeve, though.  Most people I know do candy rewards when potty training, but we try to stay away from any type of food reward in this house.  So Mitchell got to make phone calls to special people when we used the potty.  We called Daddy, Lolo, and Mimi today to share the good news.  Yeye should know that he was requested several times today, but we didn't think you would be home.  You will probably get called tomorrow!  Look at my crazy boy in big boy undies!

Just this week he started saying "You play me, Mommy?"  How can I even think about saying no??

He likes to tell me what to build so he can play with it...

So, back to potty training details.  He even pooped in the potty today.  I had him in a pull-up so that I wouldn't have to clean poop up off the floor.  But I know the signs and can tell when he needs to poop.  As soon as he started I rushed him in to the bathroom and put him on the potty.  He was nervous at first, but then he made me leave so he could do it alone!  I was so proud of him.  Then, right after that, we were sitting on the couch and he jumped up and yelled "my peepee coming!"  I put him on the potty and sure enough he peed!  I'm not saying we are near potty trained, but I am pleasantly surprised with how smooth the past couple days have gone.  I'm prepared for some major steps backward, though, especially with school starting back on Tuesday.

In other news, Maya has really been working hard on doing a perfect cartwheel.  She is getting so close.  I'm totally proud of how far she has come.

I know it's only my third post, but I'm pretty proud of myself for keeping this up so far.  I credit our new desk in the living room.  I can now sit at my laptop, watch TV, and hang out with the family.  It makes blogging so much more feasible.
